New London — The Residences at Fort Trumbull, a multifamily housing complex under construction on Howard Street and located in the city’s Opportunity Zone, will be the subject of a case study webinar Thursday presented by the state Department of Economic Development.

The one-hour webinar, titled “Opportunity Zone Case Study: The Residences at Fort Trumbull,” starts at noon and is intended to detail “the developer and investor experience” making the project a reality. The Residences at Fort Trumbull is a 203-unit complex being developed by RJ Development + Advisors and is the state’s largest Opportunity Zone project since passage of a tax law encouraging such housing opportunities, the DECD said in a statement.

The federal Opportunity Zones program was designed to provide capital gains tax benefits as an incentive for investors to redevelop distressed cities.

The DECD is encouraging real estate investors, workforce and economic development professionals and community leaders to attend the webinar. Registration information is available at bit.ly/nlftwebinar.

Speakers include Alexandra Daum, deputy commissioner and chief investment officer of the state Department of Economic Development; Jason S. Rudnick, principal of RJ Development + Advisors, and Al Puchala Jr., CEO of CapZone Impact Investments. The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
