New London Day

As reported by The Day, RJ Development & Advisors (RJDA) is officially advancing its latest project along the Thames River: The Mizzen, a 250-unit, market-rate multifamily community in New London, Connecticut.

Building on the success of RJDA’s adjacent project, The Beam, this 249,840-square-foot development represents the next major milestone in the revitalization of the historic Fort Trumbull waterfront district. Designed by CUBE3 and constructed by Callahan Construction Managers, the five-story wood-frame building on a precast podium sits directly across the river from the global headquarters of Electric Boat (General Dynamics).

“Southeastern Connecticut is experiencing significant momentum, and housing infrastructure must keep pace with that trajectory,” said Yves Joseph, Co-Founder and Principal of RJDA. “The Mizzen reinforces our commitment to New London’s waterfront district by bringing well-located, high-quality residential space to market.”

New London Mayor Michael Passero praised the initiative, noting that “The Mizzen represents the exact type of smart waterfront revitalization that propels New London forward. As our regional economy and major employers expand, adding quality housing capacity along the Thames River ensures our city remains a vibrant destination for living and working.”

Premier Waterfront Amenities Designed to serve both the local defense workforce and the broader community, residents at The Mizzen will enjoy a curated suite of lifestyle amenities:

  • A top-floor sky lounge overlooking the Thames River
  • An outdoor landscaped courtyard
  • A fully equipped fitness center and community club room
  • Pet washing facilities and secure bike storage
